Our Organization conducts awareness generation program in slums and stands for its betterment.

Amarkalyan Urban and Rural Development Society(AKURDS) is registered under the Karnataka societies registration act 1960 on 21st March 2014. We conduct educational lectures by many doctors from different medical organizations in and around Murgod, Saundatti taluk. The major focus is on basic and advanced awareness care in orthopedic problems like backache, arthritis and osteoporosis.The lectures also emphasized on how to give advanced care to rural population in simplified manner. The doctors made aware of recent advances in orthopedics as well as how they can use this knowledge of orthopedics in their general practice. And so far we reached 6000+ beneficiaries.

Introduction

Amarkalyan Urban And Rural Development Society Kengeri, Murgod, is established by practicing Development Consultants, Technology and management Professionals , Social Workers , Social Technologists and Professional Trainers.

The primary objective of Amarkalyan Urban and Rural Development Society Kengeri, Murgod [AKURDS] is to enable and promote Sustainable Development and create awareness about Development, its impact on the society and alleviate negative impacts of development.

AKURDS takes up Feasibility Studies, Appraisals, Sector Studies and Surveys, Social and Environmental Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Monitoring, Assessment, Evaluation, Training and Advocacy for development programs.


Objectives

Amarkalyan Urban and Rural Development Society Kengeri, Murgod [AKURDS] has sustainable development as its core objective. AKURDS supports development initiatives that promote Human Development and Social Development. It has been constantly monitoring and analyzing the socio-economic , political and external environment and updating the Objectives suitably without losing sight of the core objective . The following are the main Sustainable Development.  

- To coordinate the activities of and provide support to NGOs, Governments and other organizations working towards sustainable Development.

- To impart Education and Training to further the objectives and to set up an Institution / Resource and Reference Centre for this purpose.

- To develop and maintain a database of information and documentation related to sustainable development and to disseminate this information.

- To promote for organic farming and practice of improved agricultural and horticultural practices.  






PROGRAM 1 - EDUCATIONAL LECTURES


AKURDS has conducted educational lectures by doctors from different medical organizations in Murgod village and in and around Saundatti Taluka. The focus was on basic and advanced awareness and care in orthopedic problems like backache, arthritis, and osteoporosis. The lectures also emphasized on how to give advanced care to rural population in simplified manner. The doctors made aware of recent advances in orthopedics as well as how they can use this knowledge of orthopedics in their General Practice.



PROGRAM 2 - BLOOD DONATION CAMP


On the occasion of Independence day, 15th August the organization had arranged blood donation camp in which 50 youths donated their blood.



PROGRAM 3 - VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR WOMEN


The organization is running a free vocational training program, the organization is imparting training to women in computer, typing, cutting, tailoring, hand work program was organized for local women for their skill development for getting employment or beginning some household income generation activities besides, some women were referred to other suitable vocational training institutions for learning new skills. The objectives of this vocational training is to make these woman and adolescent girls self-dependent. Economic empowerment is very important for any welfare program meant for women.



PROGRAM 4 - SPORTS ACTIVITIES


To arrange skating and cricket competition for youth and children, State level wrestling competition for children each and every year. Arrange drawing competitions for children each and every year, and mini marathon competition the main thing behind this programme is to encourage children and young sportsman.



PROGRAM 5 - MAHILA MELAWA PROGRAMMES


Organization is very well counties about the issues of women and its development organization its by women. Organization has successfully arranged several women development camps around Belgaum district.



PROGRAM 6 - ADVOCACY, EDUCATION AND AWARENESS PROGRAMMES


Our Organization conducted awareness generation programme in slums. In the awareness programme this year adding to the previous initiatives included care counseling and sessions on their rights. The programme was conducted with the cooperation and support of prominent resources persons belonging to various fields. The beneficiaries were further advised about several programmes and activities related to poor persons especially for the needy women , like self help group, income generation group, health education, family welfare etc. follow up activities were undertaken by the field staff of our organization so that maximum benefits be accrued by the poorest of poor community. Educational trips to various places were organized which gave educated them playfully.



PROGRAM 7 - KISHORI VIKAS SHIBIR


A current burning problem for the Kishori (young women) is unemployment. The Central government has now a days allots little funds towards employment for this segment. So the youth are very much nervous even after they complete their degrees. Therefore Kishori Vikas Shibir was an initiative to guide them on career options and decisions. 200 Kishoris attended the shibir and received guidance.



PROGRAM 8 - FARMER MEETING PROGRAMMES


Foundation is well aware of the fact that the farmers are the backbones of the Indian economy. From this point of view, Foundation is continuously affording to bring about sustainable development in these people. Foundation has arranged several farmer meetings in and around Saundatti. 180 to 450 cultivators from the surrounding area were present in these meetings. In these meetings, these farmers were briefed on new varieties in agriculture crops, organic farming, insecticide, pesticides and modern technique development in the field of Animal Husbandry and Fishery.



PROGRAM 9 - HIV/AIDS AWARENESS PROGRAM


HIV/AIDS is catastrophic diseases for the sufferer and the family. Hence it is very much important to bring the awareness among our illiterate rural folk. Our social workers visited villages, schools and colleges and organized street plays skits. Songs through which knowledge about HIV/AIDS were given, handbills, pamphlets are distributed camps and seminars were arranged in villages and chowks, panchayat etc.. The social workers also visited dhabas and talked to truck drivers. These people are away from their families for longer time and they are susceptible to HIV/AIDS. Hence awareness among them is must. Our social workers got good response from the different sanctions of society as they want to know more in details - regarding the symptoms, precautions and cure.



PROGRAM 10 - ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS


AKURDS conducted primary and high-school student meetings to educate students and teachers on creating pollution free environment. Volunteers of the organization visited schools of the nearby area to create awareness among students for a clean environment. The organization conducted film shows and slide shows as part of the environmental awareness program in rural areas.
